Fifty Years of the Norton Commando.
Norton turned 50 on the Commando, and they celebrated with Belstaff at Union Garage in Brooklyn, a three-way collab between people who take British bikes very seriously. I directed, shot and cut this one myself, and the plan was to treat it less like an event video and more like a short doc. The bikes were lined up, one of every Commando from the decade they were built, but the real stories were walking around in waxed cotton. So I followed them: legendary photojournalist Allan Tannenbaum, who went to England in the '60s to pick up his Commando new; Elspeth Beard, the first British woman to ride around the world on a motorcycle; and Kenny Cummings geeking out on the High Rider ("the cutest American chopper you've ever seen"). Seven minutes, one camera, a lot of soul.
